inTERTEXTILE 2006 & CHIC 2006 opened on March 28, 2006 in Beijing.

On March 28, Hao Jianxiu, Vice Chairwoman of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference visited the two events accompanied by Mr. Du Yuzhou, President of China National Textile & Apparel Council and Mr. Zhang Yankai, Vice Executive Chairman of the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT.

Intertextile Beijing 2006, the North China's leading apparel textile fair with 30000 sq. meters, opened o March 28 at a time of high industry optimism. Expecting a strong buying mood, over 680 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions (an 18% increase from 2005) will introduce their latest apparel textile collections at the show, which will take place from 28 – 30 March 2006 at Beijing Exhibition Centre. There are more than 420 Chinese exhibitors participated in the show including suppliers from the nation’s key textile producing regions; Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Chinese market leaders exhibiting at the show including Da Fa Cloth, Fulida, Shaoxing County Bolide Textile and Wuxi Xiexin. And there are 260 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions make up the overseas group this year. Many foreign companies recognise, and wish to capitalise upon, North China’s strong and ever-growing demand for quality textiles. Big names such as Kufner of Germany, Lenzing of Austria, Coats of the UK, Ermenegildo Zegna from Italy and Schoeller from Switzerland will be present.

The splendid interTEXTILE attracted a lot of international buyers. In the early morning, numbers of visitors and buyers who massed at the gate of Beijing Exhibition Center. One of the buyers coming from Pakistan said that interTEXTILE became their main fair to purchase the fabrics. It is seen that a few of American buyers made a choice of the fabrics busily and appreciated the rapid development of the fabrics made in China.

On the first open day of interTEXTILE, there were 7392 visitors from 44 countries and regions to visit the fair in which there were 1228 overseas buyers, which took up about 20 per cent of the total visitors.

CHIC is an exhibition with huge scale, with exhibition area of 120,000 square meters and more than 20 fashion segments, including the men's wear, women's wear, leisure wear, children's wear, accessories etc. It made CHIC the second largest fashion exhibition in the world with 1002 exhibitors and about 200,000 person-time of flux of visitor.

More than 1000 brands coming from 18 countries and regions such as Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Belguim, Turkey, USA, Canada, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, China in National Pavilion participated CHIC. In which there are over 350 overseas brands.
