The North Part of Beijing Zhengdong Electronic Power Group Factory becomes liveliness after silent for years on the afternoon of March 18th 2007. Beautiful models, styled designers, crowded visitors, colorful fashion collection…we feel exciting, lively and joy everywhere…Spring has come!
This was an old factory---one of important projects in “First Five Years Plan” supported by Eastern Germany. Two huge gas storage tanks with diameter of 67 meters, several big blast furnaces and boilers, wide factory sets, transmission pipelines….all of them are telling the history of Beijing heavy industry, but the development of city ends its role as a factory, and it’s ceasing in the time.
Now we are standing here to see its new face! D?PARK --- carrying the hope of the future of Beijing creation industry is launched here at “751 Factory” after decades. It’s so familiar, but also so different, the workers who have been here for decades are really surprised! The old factory sets and tarnishing machines are so true and familiar, but the unique space design combines the old things and new ideas so artfully. Time is changing, the old factory is changing, but the mark of history and culture is still here.
At the beginning of 2006, in order to carry out the Plan of building “Fashion In Beijing” by Beijing Municipal People’s Government, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Industrial Development and China Fashion Association started to design and build fashion hub. After visiting and discussing with more than ten unused factories, Beijing Zhengdong Electric Power Group signed agreement on May 12th 2006. After 9 months’ planning and hard work, China Fashion Association and Beijing Zhengdong Electric Power Group bring new liveliness to the old historical industry; till now, in D?PARK, we have 5 famous designers, 30 young designers, models agencies, exhibition design companies. A fashion creation park combining fashion design, products development, exhibition display comes into Beijing. What’s more, D?PARK has established a public service platform supplying information, training, meeting room etc, in order to give the fashion elites here a better environment.
Driving along the Airport High Speed way, getting out of Dashanzi Exit, then driving to east, through 1000 meters long“798 Art Corridor” in No. 2 of Jiuxianqiao Road, you could see two red buildings beside east of two high chimneys, this is D. PARK. Here, we have Ayou Studio, Zeng Fengfei Studio, Liuwei Studio, Wu Xuewei/Wu Xuekai Studio, Galaxy Model Management Ltd. , Training Center of China Fashion Association, Fashion China Magazine House and Art of steel and glass etc.
