According to Yantai Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau, total import and export of Yantai in the first 10 months of 2006 amounted to US$12.2 billion, US$11.48 billion more than that of the previous year. USA became the biggest export market of the Yantai.

In 2006, export of Yantai to USA reached US$1.68 billion, accounting for one fourth of total exports of the city. In addition, Korea maintained the position as Yantai’s biggest trading partner, total trade between Yantai and Korea hit US$3.19 billion, of which Yantai’s import from Korea was US$1.96 and the deficit in trade with Korea was US$720 million.
