China : US, Japan & Hong Kong top textile & apparrel export markets

Among the main export countries and regions of China’s textile and apparel products, the US ranked the first and followed by Japan and Hong Kong, according to the statistics from the Customs.

In January-September, 2006, China’s textile and apparel export reached US $107.775 billion, with $15.99 billion to the US, up 9.31 percent from the same period of last year; $14.273 billion to Japan, up 7.53 percent; $13.393 billion to Hong Kong, 23.35 percent above the same period in 2005.

The combined export amount to the US, Japan and Hong Kang recorded $43.656 billion, accounting for 40.51 percent of the total textile and apparel export value, rising 13.52 percent from the same period of last year.

In January-September, 2006, China exported $16.987 to EU, gaining 13.52 percent from the same period of the prior year.

According to the statistics, in January-September 2006, the export amount of China’s textiles and apparel to EU and the US registered $32.977 billion, an increase of 11.44 percent from the same period of the previous year, accounting for 30.60 percent of the overall textile and apparel export.

Export to the countries and regions outside EU and the US accumulated at $74.797 billion, gaining 30.73 percent from the same period in 2005, accounting for 69.40 percent of the total textile and apparel export amount.
