Statistics by China National Textile & Apparel Council  reveal that China's textile industry has steadily increased from January to August,2006.

There are already about 40000 large textile and clothing units at an increasing rate of 13.15 percent compared to corresponding period last year.

Total production value in Chinese textile and clothing industry was RMB157.2816 billion at a growing rate of 23.06 percent.

Total turnover was RMB153.2429 billion with rate of 23.35 percent, while income was RMB51945 billion at an emerging rate of 33.37 percent.

From among the 40000 large textile and clothing units, the yarn output was 10.8224 million tons with an increasing rate of 21.06 percent, cloth output was 28.073 billion meters (16.30 percent), clothing output was 10.627 billion pieces (11.02 percent), chemical fibre output was 13.0054 million tons (14.73 percent).
