China produced 1.58 million tons yarn in August 2006, according to the General Administration of Customs, representing a new record in the history, with a growth of 22.2 percent a year.
The yarn production totaled 10.82 million tons during January-August 2006, up 21.2 from the same period last year.
The average price for 32s cotton yarn in the market was quoted at 19418 Yuan per ton, an increase of 24 Yuan from last month (+ 0.1 percent).
The offer for polyester fibre was 12749 Yuan per ton, up 1010 Yuan from last month (+ 8.6).
The gap between the local offers for standard cotton grades and polyester fibre in August was 1238 Yuan per ton, less 1030 Yuan than last month.
