April 4, 2006 Zimmer AG, a company of GEA Group, has been awarded a contract to supply a further polyester staple fiber plant to Fujian Jinlun Petrochemical Fiber Industry Co. Ltd. Fujian Jinlun is one of the biggest companies in the Chinese staple fiber industry.

The plant, located in the Binhai Industry Zone Changle, Fujian Province, is designed for a production capacity of 200 tons/day staple fibers in one line using Zimmer’s latest and proven spinning and staple fiber production technology. The fiber production line designed by Fleissner GmbH, an affiliate of Zimmer AG, will be equipped with one of the world’s largest crimper for an economical and high-quality production.

The Frankfurt based engineering and construction company will provide the technology, engineering and key equipment and is responsible for the supervision of construction and start-up of the plant, scheduled for the beginning of 2007.

Last year at the same site, Zimmer successfully commissioned and handed over China’s first running 200 tons/day staple fiber lines to Fujian Jinlun.

By starting the new line, Jinlun will operate a total production capacity of 600 tons/day. The good cooperation and quality of the produced fibers were the decisive factors in Zimmer winning the contract, the company said.

The investment value of the new plant was not disclosed.
