Exhibitors from EU continue to confirm participation at Intertextile
Source: Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd Date: 2009-06-24
Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, the worlds’ largest industry event, has already confirmed many fabric mill suppliers from around the world. Among them are several exhibitors from the European Union (EU) including Austria, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom, while Italy and Germany will be grouped into country pavilions. Imports from the EU’s textile and garment sector to China have been promising for 2008. Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, a professional business platform for the apparel fabrics industry in China and Asia, plays an important role in contributing to the textile trade between the two regions. China’s customs statistics reported a rise of 12.91 percent to USD124, 490 in 2008 from the year prior in textile imports from the EU. This segment of the textiles and garment industry in China reflects the growth in consumer wealth and the market’s need for higher quality fabrics. Reinforcing the region’s commitment to drive trade forward is the government’s pledge to continue buying from the EU. The comments came during Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao’s, European ‘Confidence’ visit from 19 January to 3 February 2009. The region is now preparing to send buyer delegations from the textile and garment sector to visit fabric mill suppliers across the EU. Led by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Textiles (CCCT), the trips will be dedicated to important industry discussions on imports, investment and brand cooperation. The visits are scheduled to take place at the end of June and the beginning of July 2009. Many experts believe that the support and cooperation offered by the Chinese government is necessary in order to restore growth, expand trade and to help boost the overall global financial system. It also signifies the vital role that the Chinese government plays in maintaining and developing international trade. Last year, more than 49,000 visitors from 85 countries and regions attended the show, including key buyers from apparel fabrics-related importers, wholesalers, manufacturers and designers.
