Analysis of China's Textile Fabric Export in Jan. 2006

Reported by China Customs that China's Textile Fabric Export in Jan. 2006 reached 1.45 billion meters valued at USD 1.37 billion in January, 2006 up 12.31 per cent year-on-year and the unit price was USD 0.91 per meter averagely as the same as the previous year.

The unit price of the fabric made in China to export in 1999 was USD 0.71 per meter and it became USD 0.91 per meter averagely in Jan.2006. The easiness, function and fashion of the fabrics made in China has been much improved and the additive value was advanced through our great efforts.

China's import of the fabrics in Jan.2006 was USD 0.367 billion meters and the even price to import was USD 1.36 per meter, up 3.82 per cent year-on-year.

According to our analysis, the chemical fabrics took up 48 per cent in China’s fabric export, others were cotton fabrics taking up 40 per cent, silk fabric taking up 5 per cent, wool fabrics taking up 2 per cent and the flax fabrics 5 per cent.

The main markets to export from China were 160 countries and regions, in which the markets to export exceeded USD 10 million were 34.  There are 19 countries and region that exported over USD 200 million. The10 top markets are Hong Kong, EU, United Arab Emirates, Korea, Bengal, USA, Japan, Vietnam, India and Benin, which taking up 55 per cent in China’s total fabric export. In which, our export increased by 117 per cent year-on-year.

The most export of China Fabrics to Hong Kong

It is well known that Hong Kong has been China’s traditional exporting market Among China’s main export and regions of fabrics, Hong Kong is the top one/ China’s fabric export to Hong Kong reached USD 0.204 billion, up 7.49 per cent year-on-year, 0.174 billion meters increasing 5.25 per cent compared wit the same period of last year. The even unit price was USD 1.16 per meter, up 1.74 per cent year-0n-year. In which, the export of cotton fabrics in Jan. 2006 was USD 0.122 billion taking up 60 per cent of the total export to Hong Kong. And the export of China’s was 88 million meters, up 2.26 per cent year-on-year, even unit price was USD 1.39 per meter, up 3.73 year-on-year.

The export of wool fabrics to Hong Kong in Jan.2006 was USD 1.68 million, down 65.99 per cent, 0.32 million meters, down 64.37 per cent year-on-year. The even unit price was USD 5.25 per meter, down 4.55 per cent year-on-year.

Fabric export to EU by reduced quantity and increased price

EU is one of China’s main markets to export fabrics

In Jan. 2006, EU became the top two in China’s fabric export valued by USD 0.142 billion, up 2.05 per cent year-on-year, 0.116 billion meters, down 7.02 per cent year-on-year. And the even unit price was USD 1.23 per meter, up 9.75 per cent year-on-year. The export to EU 15 countries reached USD 10 million respectively including Italy, Germany, Spain, Belgium and UK taking up 77 per cent in China’s total export to EU.

China’s Export of fabrics to Italy reached USD 51.14 million, up 27.49 per cent year-on-year, 35.35 million meters in quantity, up 14.94 per cent year-on-year. And the even unit price became USD 1.45 per meter, up 11.54 per cent year-on-year.

China’s Export of fabrics to Germany reached USD 23.29 million, up 0.89 per cent year-on-year, 35.35 million meters in quantity, up 14.94 per cent year-on-year. And the even unit price became USD 1.10 per meter, up 11.11 per cent year-on-year.

China’s Export of fabrics to Spain reached USD 12.10 million, down 13.07 per cent year-on-year, 8.84 million meters in quantity, down 27.89 per cent year-on-year. And the even unit price became USD 1.37 per meter, up 20.18 per cent year-on-year.

Zhejiang Province took up 30 per cent in China’s total export of fabrics

It is well known that the fabric production is distributed mainly in Chinese coastal provinces or cities in which the fabrics export most surely. In Jan.2006, the coastal provinces that exported fabrics by over USD 100 million are Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Shanghai and Guangdong which took up 84 per cent in China’s total fabric export in which the fabric export in Zhejiang took up more than more than 33 per cent.

The fabric export from Zhejiang in Jan.2006 was USD 0.486 billion, up 1.7 per cent year-on-year, 0.537 billion meters, up 3.79 per cent year-on-year and the even unit price was USD 0.91 per meter, down 1.09 per cent year-on-year, but the export of the fabrics made of silk, flax and chemical fiber was the top one in all the provinces and cities in China.

The fabric export from Jiangsu in Jan.2006 was USD 0.226 billion, up 14.62 per cent year-on-year, 0.21 billion meters, up 21.08 per cent year-on-year and the even unit price was USD 1.08 per meter, down 5.26 per cent year-on-year.

The fabric export from Shandong in Jan.2006 was USD 0.119 billion, up 20.09 per cent year-on-year, 0.267 billion meters, up 10.17 per cent year-on-year and the even unit price was USD 0.74 per meter, up 8.82 per cent year-on-year.
