Official statistics by China Customs showed that China’s export for light textile products to Russia recorded USD 7.8 billion in 2005, a year-on0year increase of 37 per cent and taking up 60 per cent of China’s export to Russia in the total trade.

Trade volume between China and Russia has been increasing rapidly in recent years and exceeded US$29 billion in 2005.

China has became the 5 top garment export market taking up about 5 per cent in Russian garment consumption market.

The main garment products to export from China to Russia are textile fabrics, fur coats, casual wear, active wear, jeans, shirts, down wear and shoes, etc.

China and Russia are important partners in economic and technological development in textile business for a long time, seen as new opportunity for the two countries and encouraged the enterprises between the two countries to expand co-operation i in textile industry.
