According to the ACIMIT, the Italian sector of finishing machines has currently a turnover of about 560 million euros, which is 21% of the total turnover of the Italian textile machinery industry.
Over 78% of the total turnover was originated from exports, amounting for 440 million euros in 2006. The main importing countries of Italian finishing machinery in 2006 were India (39 million euros), China (31 million euros), Turkey (31 million euros), Germany (22 million euros) and the United States (22 million euros).
The "made in Italy" dyeing equipment ranges with various machines and plants for the processing of fibers in pure and blends. Within the sector of machines for processing semi-finished materials, well recognized developments include those in the areas of open width lines for the continuous washing of woolen fabrics, as well as machines designed for special "handle" treatments, imparting a soft and bulky handle to the fabrics that modified both handle and appearance.
In the field of surface finishing treatments, the Italian machines for brushing, calendering, polishing, embossing, suede finishing, raising and shearing provide high quality and creative textile finishing. Other well-recognized Italian made machines include discontinuous machines with autoclave equipment and continuous decating lines, solutions for the classical sanforizing and compacting processes, and equipments for the cutting and packaging of the fabrics.
