Shenhu town is also a famous seaport in southeastern Fujian. The GDP in 2003 of the town reached 2.4billion yuan and the fiscal income 160 million yuan. As the traditional pillar industry, underwear industry realizes 3billion yuan output value and 2.8billion yuan export value each year. More than 200 underwear manufacturing enterprises in the town produce short pants, lingerie, swimwear, brassieres, pyjamas, T shirts, vests and knitted children's wear, 90% of which are for export and enjoy a high reputation for their good quality. The complementary sectors such as zippers, textiles, bleaching, dyeing, printing and packaging are completed. Many nationwide famous enterprises like Haosha, Huali, Dali, Tongyi and Jingdu emerged in Shenghu in recent years.
