American Textile Co. (ATC), Duquesne, Pa., celebrated the completion of a $9.2 million expansion of its headquarters last week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and expressions of thanks to those who helped make the expansion possible. The company, a supplier of private-label, performance-based basic bedding products, has added more than 83,000 square feet to the distribution facility at its headquarters, which now encompasses 190,000 square feet on eight acres. The expansion also is expected to add 50 new employees to the company’s manufacturing workforce.
According to ATC, the expansion results from the company’s growing bed pillow manufacturing operation. ATC also manufactures mattress covers and pillow covers; and specializes in providing anti-allergenic, stain-resistant and waterproof performance attributes. Its customers include Bed Bath & Beyond, Boscov’s, Kmart, Kohl’s, Linens ’N Things, Macy’s, Marshalls, Sears, Target and Wal-Mart, among others.
“We are proud to increase our contribution to growing Western Pennsylvania’s economy,” said Reid Ruttenberg, chairman, ATC. “This ribbon cutting not only celebrates the completed expansion, but it allows us to thank our various partners, whose extraordinary support made this facility possible.”
Participating in the celebration were Ruttenberg, Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato, State Senator Sean Logan, and Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Yablonsky. Supporters of the expansion include numerous governmental, public and private organizations.
