According to Cao Xinyu, Deputy Director of China Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT), Chinese textile exports will increase 15 percent to reach US $161 billion in 2007 despite trade barriers.
China’s textile industry has signed bilateral agreement on textile exports with the European Union and the US last year.
The industry is upgrading their technology and the production ability to meet the export demand.
China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) statistics reveals that major Chinese textile enterprises accounts for sales of 1.98 trillion yuan during January-October 2006.
Du Yuzhou, Chairman of CNTAC stated that China’s textile industry would manufacture high quality products.
The Ministry of Commerce revealed a gross output value for China’s textile industry was 2.5 trillion yuan in 2006, showing a 20 percent growth year-on-year.
