China imported numbers of textile machinery

Statistics by Shanghai Customs reveal that more and more Chinese mills in textile industry imported advanced textile machinery in order to deal with the coming rigorous competition and meet updated demand. Some textile mills through Shanghai Customs imported foreign textile machines and spare parts reaching USD 710 million from Jan. to Aug., 2006, up 21.6 per cent on-year-year and the imported unit price seemed increasing as well.
It is noted that 70 per cent of the imported textile machinery came form Japan, Germany and Italy. From Jan. to Aug, 2006. The textile machinery through Shanghai Port from Japan was USD 270 million, up by 83.2 per cent year-on-year, and USD 160 million from Germany and USD 90 million respectively.
Statistics shows that the import got rapid by the foreign companies investing in China and the private companies. The textile machinery imported by the foreign companies investing in China was USD 210 million, up by 20.2 per cent year-on-year; and USD 210 million also increasing 78.4 per cent compared with the same period of last year.
