China's Textile import & export value surge in first half

The import and export value of Chinese textiles and garments has surged by 21.94 percent year-on-year in first six months of the current year 2006, the data from China Customs House revealed here on August 21. 

The import value of textiles and garments rose by 5.88 percent, accounting for 2.4 percent of the total import.

The exports from Chinese textiles and garments industry was mostly to the US, Japan and Hong Kong; whereas top 3 countries and territories that exported textiles and garments to China were Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.

The import value from Taiwan rose by 0.73 percent year on year, it declined by 4.5 percent from Japan and 3.7 percent from South Korea.
