A Shangyu City, Zhejiang-based company has unveiled a new curtain fabric made using photocatalyst fibre, which has air-purifying property.
The company, Shangyu Hongqiang, said the new curtain fabric automatically decomposes some hazardous particles like xylene and formaldehyde from the surrounding air, thus resulting in reduced indoor air pollution.
The main raw material in the new curtain fabric – photocatalyst fibre – has been invented by the company itself. The fibre has the property of absorbing the air in presence of sunshine and other light, which it then separates into carbon dioxide and water.
The new curtain fabric would, in the meanwhile, decompose the odour, and the hydrophilic feature will keep the fabric clean.
The company plans to sell the new curtain fabric to several domestic curtain and home textile fabric companies.
