Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics returns to the China International Exhibition Centre for the second time, from 29 - 31 March 2009, taking advantage of the modern facility in one of China's fastest growing commercial regions. In 2008, more than 25,000 visitors from 74 countries attended, to see 1,300 exhibitors in 48,000 sqm of trade space.

March in northern China has become a crucial destination for the fashion and textile industries. In addition to Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics, two other major trade events in the fashion supply chain will be staged: the China International Clothing & Accessories Fair (CHIC) for fashion garments, and Yarn Expo Spring, for apparel fibres and yarns.

Beijing and northern China offer international textile supplies a valuable trade destination. Despite the global economic slowdown, China's GDP continues to rise, along with domestic consumption, creating a powerful new emerging market. Nearly half of China's 2007 GDP was consumed domestically.

And for the first three quarters of this year, domestic consumption was up 10% over the same period last year. The region also boasts the second highest urban incomes in the country and some of China's highest living standards and disposable incomes.

While demand rises, a higher value for the Chinese RMB and higher operating costs have made Chinese textile producers more expensive, creating an ideal market situation for international fabric suppliers.

Trade fairs allow buyers to see a full range of products in one place, meet companies face to face, and source large volumes. At Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics, many visitors use the occasion to source fabric and to visit factories in the area.

"Trade shows are essential for sourcing textiles in China, and as demand grows in China for international textiles, Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics has become a key destination for trade buyers," said Ms Wendy Wen, Director of Trade Fairs for Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd.

"Many visitors use the occasion of the show to also visit factories. This adds value to their trip, and creates better participation. The popularity of the show is definitely due to the convenience a trade fairs offers, by having of one sourcing destination in the right place."
