South African Government Limits Import of 31 Chinese Textile Category

South African Government put a quota limit on import of Chinese textile products from August 28, 2006, which will end on December 31, 2008.
Statistical reports reveal that from 2003 to 2005, China’s export to South Africa increased by 480 percent and during this period, country’s clothing industry lost about 67,000 job opportunities.
Cheap Chinese clothing is a huge threat for South African industry. The Government in accordance with Chinese administration came to an agreement to limit import of 31 categories of textile products.
