Technology upgrades boost output for apparel makers in Shenzhen – creating great opportunities for textile manufacturers looking for buyers
Trade show connects textile makers to some of China’s top apparel manufacturers
After boosting output capacity with a technological revamp last year, China’s most successful manufacturers in the apparel-making hub of Shenzhen are on the lookout for new textiles to meet their rising demand. The climate is ideal for exhibitors at the Intertextile Pavilion in Shenzhen, running 12 – 14 July 2007, looking to connect with China’s most established garment producers. The pavilion is part of the 7th China (Shenzhen) International Brand Clothing & Accessories Fair (SZIC) – a major fashion event in the region.
Shenzhen and the Guangdong province have long been considered one of China’s key clothing manufacturing regions. More than 3,000 apparel manufacturers are based in the area and together produce about 800 brands. In the past year, competition from other parts of China has encouraged many of those companies to step up technological innovation. The province’s apparel manufacturers nearly doubled their asset value – the value of manufacturing equipment – last year to a total of US$120 million. That allows the manufacturers to be more efficient and to markedly improve output. As a result, apparel exports from the province were 78% higher in 2006, accounting for US$28 billion. Overall, Guangdong’s exports account for nearly 30% of China’s total garment exports.
The improved capacity has an important effect for textile manufacturers – much greater demand for fabric. Intertextile Pavilion is the perfect opportunity for textile producers to meet important and growing apparel producers in the region.
In 2006, more than 6,400 buyers attended Intertextile Pavilion in Shenzhen. The show includes 7,500 sqm of exhibition space and features cotton, silk, wool, linen/ramie, man-made, knitted, functional, lace and embroidery textiles as well as new technology, design and accessories.
Intertextile Pavilion in Shenzhen is organized by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd.; The Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT; and Shenzhen Garment Industry Association.
